Premiere showing of Lubaina Himid in Aotearoa alongside renowned artist Michael Parekōwhai

Prompts will bring the artwork of senior artists, Michael Parekōwhai and Turner Prize-winning UK-based artist Lubaina Himid in contact for the first time. This exhibition will be the premiere showing of Lubaina Himid in Aotearoa, presenting painting and a large body of work on paper. Alongside Himid, Artspace Aotearoa will re-present the early and significant sculptural work, The Indefinite Article (1990) by Parekōwhai, 35 years on from its first showing in the seminal exhibition Choice! Prompts will explore the role language can play in shaping identity and agency and will also reflect on the significance of Artspace Aotearoa in local art history.
