Student Ambassador Programme
The Student Ambassador Programme 2025 offers high school students in Years 11-13 an immersive experience in festival management. This initiative aims to inspire young leaders in arts, culture, and event management by offering hands-on experience in various festival operations.
Application Process:
Students apply online, providing personal details, expressing their interest in a specific festival area, and submitting a personal statement (100-150 words) explaining why they are drawn to the selected field. A teacher must provide a reference.
Selection criteria include enthusiasm, passion, and alignment with the chosen field.
Fields of Interest:
- Artist Liaison
- Social Media/Marketing
- Kaihautū Māori/Outdoor Events
- Technical (lighting, sound, stage management)
- School Engagement
Programme Structure:
Selected students are placed in their chosen departments for a three-day experience, shadowing professionals, attending workshops, and engaging in festival operations.
Ambassadors also network with industry professionals and fellow ambassadors.
Ambassador Responsibilities:
Ambassadors are expected to document their journey, engage the festival audience on social media, and share their experiences through daily updates, content creation, and a reflective piece.
Outcome and Benefits:
Ambassadors gain valuable skills in communication, project management, teamwork, and content creation.
Participation may lead to future opportunities like internships or further mentorship within the festival or related industries.
